Sneaky hackers infiltrate a user’s computer, change his/her password and then defraud them for money by making use of his/her account. Ardney Rise-based InTouch Systems in Norwich has advised on how not to get a computer hacked into:
(1) Have a good up-to-date anti virus package. Spam emails can be viruses and may carry spyware inside an attachment.
(2) Beware of phishing. That is when you receive emails asking for your usernames and passwords. Do not reply to these.
(3) Install anti spyware software if you can. Microsoft has a free one you can download called Windows defender.
(4) Do not click on pop-up adverts apart from to close them. These can be viruses themselves.
(5) Install a hardware router instead of a modem to create a firewall outside your machine.
(6) Always log out of banking software, never just close the window
