AVG releases anti-rootkit to combat severe hidden threats

Grisoft recently announced the release of one more free AVG product known as Anti-Rootkit. According to the company it will be going through an open beta test for 6 months to make sure its capability of defending operating systems. Larry Bridwell, Global Security Strategist for Grisoft, further elaborates, Rootkits are PC code that attempt to hide their actions and processes, making the job of detecting code and harmful processes very difficult. AVG ‘Anti-Rootkit’ is developed to detect and destroy rootkits effectively, without bothering users with false alarms. Initially, hackers used to make use of rootkits to wrap their tracks after illegal access to PCs. But nowadays, these methods have been re-developed with the aim of masking the existence of nasty software utilized to collect and exploit private info like credit card numbers and social security numbers posing a critical threat to users. Similar to the entire range of AVG products, AVG Anti-Rootkit provides users with free of charge standard updates, and an easy user interface. The free of charge version of Grisoft’s AVG Anti-Rootkit can be availed merely for non-commercial home use. While, the commercial version can be availed as a 30-day trial version.
