BitDefender, a leading European provider of security solutions, recently warned users of a new spate of spam that has potentially been targeting social networking sites along with YouTube & MySpace . The spam attack exploits certain YouTube features to bring about a listing of the users who will get the spammed message. The portal enables users to swap messages and encourage others to subscribe to certain video channels.
Daniel Raduta, BitDefender antispam researcher said,
BitDefender believes that Web 2.0 sites such as YouTube and MySpace are rapidly becoming the next preferred malware spreading platform.
Such functions are exploited to creep into user profiles pages, collect listings of possible victims and e-mail a wave of messages to them. Though BitDefender provides hardcore defense to combat spam, even then all of the consumers have been suggested to keep their anti-spam shields ready may be they are surfing the sites.
