The Burton-based Credit Union, in Genesee County, has triggered an online account information security plan. ELGA made the first move of the Two-Factor Authentication program, which is comprised with the latest guidelines from the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council.

All the financial institutions are required to meet the guidelines before the year ends, announced by the council. With the introduction of ELGA’s program the hackers will not find an opportunity to commit theft of a member’s online identity.

The latest program makes use of two types of identification to authenticate the user and proves an assistance in combat the so-called pharming, phishing, spyware and keystroke recorders.
