With the aim of tightening cyber security, the department of information technology (DIT) has planned to bring about new strategies, which will plant baits in cyber space for worms and viruses. Coming to the effect of this proposal, (DIT) has also signed MoUs with McAfee and Microsoft.
The technology to bring about such baits will exert a pull on unusual Internet traffic patterns. Thereafter, the ensnared patterns will be examined so that alerts could be issued ahead of any dent is made. The possibility of such a forewarning system is being carried out by DIT. The progress is; though, so far at an embryonic stage.
It is understood, if the project succeeds, there will be less chances of viruses and worms creeping via different (ISPs) Internet service providers in crucial sector groups as banks, railways and airports.
