Security experts claim to have detected a serious vulnerability in Google’s desktop software, which is expected to be exploited to cause chaos on a victim’s computer. The malicious creepy-crawly, which was exposed on Wednesday by Watchfire, has now been patched up. When Google is automatically providing a fix, Google Desktop users who would like to be certain they are sprinting the upgraded version of the software are allowed to make a download from here (http://desktop.google.com/).

Users are suggested to be sprinting version 5.0.701.30540 or later, maintained Google spokesman Barry Schnitt through e-mail. Google was initially informed about the vulnerability on Jan. 4, and brought about its patch on Feb. 1, stated by a Watchfire spokesman on Wednesday. Besides its bug patch-up, Google has integrated one more layer of security checks to the newest version of Google Desktop to defend users against similar susceptibilities in the future, maintained by Schnitt.
