Guillaume Kaddouch, a security analyst who also designs a firewall utility called Firewall Leak Tester, released a tool called RemoveWGA allowing the users quarantine Windows Genuine Advantage Notification.
The latest RemoveWGA is regarded as a response to Microsoft’s revelation at the outset of this month that the Windows Genuine Advantage Notification program repeatedly makes contact to Microsoft.
Kaddouch said in a note accompanying the release of RemoveWGA,
That, along the fact that Microsoft used deceptive ways to make you install this tool... makes me call (WGA Notification) spyware.
The RemoveWGA is so competent that it can be fixed to run a time- to- time check in the background, informing the users if discovers the silent installation of WGA Notification.
