An online hacker who burglarized an Indiana government web site and victimized the identities of 71,000 health care employees and 5,600 people who bought government services online, is also claimed to have targeted other state government websites. Whereas officers in Indiana attempted to regard it as an unpromising risk-free prank brought about by a teenager, the case is also under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice who think the similar hacker is accountable for efforts on further state government web sites.

A hacker, on January 3 burglarized Indiana’s government web site and ran off with sensitive or personal info for 71,000 health care supporters who acquired certifications on behalf of the state, plus 5,600 credit card numbers from people who had given the state via the IN.gov web site.

The Indiana Office of Technology publicized an advisory that law enforcement agents informed executives there that allegations are awaiting in the case, and the United States Department of Justice considers the person who penetrated the Indiana government site is to blamed for security violations at added government sites in further states.

Gerry Weaver, Indiana’s CIO, in a written statement was quoted as saying,

While we are pleased to hear that a suspect has been identified and charges will be brought, we regret that other states have suffered from this same hacker. Regardless, this news does not distract us from our primary objective: ensuring the security of IN.gov.
