Research conducted by Harris Interactive from Check Point claimed that the majority of online users are at risk of possibly overwhelming hack invasions due to their failure of taking fundamental IT safety measures. Almost 74% US online adults are not embedded with a hardware firewall, and around 53% have avoided deploying a software firewall, Whereas, almost 22% are having a security software suite to combat spyware & viruses.
Laura Yecies, general manager of Check Point’s ZoneAlarm consumer division, said,
As we begin the holiday shopping season this year, we want consumers to understand that internet security is no longer only about protecting your PC, it’s about protecting you. Even with all the hype surrounding ID theft and hacking attacks, the online population is still largely unaware of steps to take in order to protect themselves.
At the time of online purchasing, 97% of internet shoppers make use of their credit card to do their transactions, while, 44% do not all the time ensure for SSL safety certificates while purchasing. The survey also reveals that 72% of adult web surfers find themselves as secure now as they used to at this time previous year, and 13% are still under the fear.
