The Digital Enterprises, doing business as Movieland.com, has been directed by a U.S. District Court in California, to stop embarrasing users with the limitation of pop-up advertisements that springs up on the monitor screen without seeking the informed or prior consent of a user.

With the help of an interim agreement that resolves an FTC lawsuit, the court has directed the movie download service to keep limit over the pop-ups and ask for the consent from users ahead of providing any ads that is related to asking for any payment from customers.

According to the FTC suit, the customers of Movieland.com got a software downloaded that allowed pop-up windows with the bombardment of unnecessary ads, once they came on the computer screen could not be minimized or closed. The ads, braging the customers did not ever cancel their membership subsequent to a three-day free trial period, asked for $29.95 to close down the pop-ups.
