myspace-sues-spam-king_38 MySpace.com, the global primary lifestyle portal, recently announced to have filed a suit against Scott Richter, for the infringement of state and federal laws comprising the CAN-SPAM Act and California’s anti-spam statute. The suit, filed in U. S District Court in Los Angeles on Friday, requests a stable ban blocking Richter and his associates from the MySpace site plus unstipulated financial damages.

MySpace charges in the suit that during July and December 2006, Richter and his affiliated firms arranged for millions of spam “bulletins” to be distributed from MySpace users’ accounts but for their informed consent or knowledge. As said by the lawsuit, not only Richter phished MySpace accounts himself but also got hold of a listing of phished accounts to start on spam campaigns. The campaigns encourage websites putting forward products and services like ringtones and polo shirts.
