Virus, spyware and spam analysis company, Experts at SophosLabs has detected a new scam, which makes use of forwarded chain letters to commit thefts of email addresses. The spammed email campaign discovered by Sophos disguises as a research project into chain mail and joke messages that are often dissimilated between email users round the world. The latest spammed campaign request chain letters to be sent to the spammers, who are disguised as a researcher called Gemma.
On the pretext of ‘research’, spammers are attempting to hoodwink online users by forwarding dozens of email addresses with each message they send. This may possibly turn out in spam being forwarded to all of your colleagues and friends, or the emails may be placed at risk of identity theft. PC users ought to shatter the chain and instead of responding to messages like this one.
