SurfControl, a UK-based net security firm, has snapped up email-filtering firm BlackSpider for about £20m and a deal to take on £1.2m in short-term debts. SurfContro, primarily well known for its URL filtering technology, claims the agreement is expected to let SurfControl include an on-demand email and web security service to its portfolio, whilst the BlackSpider reveals that the deal is going to help the sale of its services clear of its client base in Europe, into regions like the Asia Pacific and US.
The BlackSpider deal let SurfControl put in on-demand protection services and appliance technology to its open client-based software technology. The services of BlackSpider shields organization against web-based threats like spyware, viruses, spam, phishing/pharming attacks and inappropriate content before they make their access to corporate networks, the firm also offers services that let organizations control employee web access and encode email for safe and sound communications
