With a view to protect its worldwide classified and nonclassified networks against spyware, malware, voice-over-IP vulnerabilities, encryption attacks, phishing, worms and other threats, the US Air Force has sought McAfee’s approval to deploy a worldwide network intrusion-prevention system.
McAfee, under the task order, will put in its IntruShield enterprise-class technology at Air Force intranet gateways global. The installation of the system is targeted at safeguarding the networks against the pernicious attacks of nastiest stuff that encrypt the system.
Mike Carpenter, vice president of federal operations at McAfee, said,
As the Department of Defense exploits the capabilities of network-centric operations, it becomes ever more critical to protect the integrity of the Global Information Grid network.
The Air Force is also all set to install the McAfee IntruShield Security Manager, a preconfigured, plug-and-play appliance that checks hundreds of network threats and attacks.
