IBM recently highlighted its 2006 security statistics report, with main security results for 2006. As per the findings of the report, developed by the IBM Internet Security Systems (ISS) X-Force research and development team, IBM claimed that the nature of online threats is possible to grow in 2007. IBM, founded on early indicators, predicted a constant increase in the magnitude of profit-motivated online attacks, comprising an augmented focus on the Web browser and progresses in image-based spam.
As said by the report, there were 7,247 newest susceptibilities traced and studied by the X-Force in 2006, which is equal to an average of 20 latest susceptibilities each day. This totality symbolizes almost 40% boost over what ISS reported in 2005. More than 88%of 2006 susceptibilities might be subjugated distantly, and more than 50% enabled hackers to get access to a machine after exploitation.
