Websense, the leading web security company, has warned of a Skype worm that is on the loose. The worm is said to be wriggling via the VOIP firm’s chat feature. A download file known as “sp.exe” conceals a Trojan horse that can steal passwords and disseminate itself. Once executed, the file installs spyware onto the user’s computer, which can be used by the hackers to to steal passwords, credit card details and other sensitive personal info.

The security firm said that the worm first came into view in Asia, probably South Korea, however competitor security firm F-secure stated the outfit was over-egging the pudding a bit. The number of victims is unconfirmed and experts are still on in order to investigate the problem. Before this week, MessageLabs experts had fortold that there is going to be a spate in VoIP hacking attacks as more businesses implement the technology next year.
