Giving a boost to content security, Websense, a global leader in Web security and Web filtering software, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire PortAuthority Technologies, of Palo Alto, Calif., and Ra’anana, Israel, for almost $90 million in cash.

With this acquisition, technology and market leadership of these two companies will be brought together to strengthen content security: PortAuthority with its information leak prevention technology and Websense with its ThreatSeeker pernicious content identification and categorization technology.

The outcome will be the newest state-of-the-art security software firm integrated with the competences to assist organizations to put a stop to the illegal use or leakage of confidential or personal data at the same time defending users and data from outer pernicious threats.
