Zhou Hongyi, ex- general manager of Yahoo China, has accused Yahoo China of ‘making public remarks to distort facts, insulting and libeling the claimant via various media‘. Zhou Hongyi, who at present works in the capacity of Chairman of qihoo.com and Angel Investor, had also been the originator of 3721.com, which was put up for sale to Yahoo for US$120 million in November 2003.
The case has been accepted by the Beijing No. 2 People’s Intermediate Court. Yahoo China celebrated its first anniversary this month on acquiring of Alibaba. Yahoo China, at present part of Alibaba, out of the blue set up a column on its website’s homepage, charging its ex- General Manager Zhou Hongyi of ‘intimidating and pressuring‘ staff into bidding goodbye to Yahoo China. The remarks of Yahoo China were included with such a defamatory nature that the insiders were taken aback.
